Intelligence Brief
The Fish Gate was located in Jerusalem's northern wall, named for the fish market where Tyrian merchants sold their Mediterranean catch (Nehemiah 13:16). It was rebuilt by the sons of Hassenaah after the exile (Nehemiah 3:3). Crucially, the north was Jerusalem's vulnerable side — no valley protection. Invaders from Mesopotamia always came from the north. The 'cry from the Fish Gate' is the sound of the breach — the first screams as Babylon pours through.
