Neither alone is the complete picture; together they reflect God's image and fulfill the mandate to be fruitful and multiply. Sexual differentiation is not a result of the Fall but part of the 'very good' creation. Historical Context: In a world where women were often property, Genesis 1:27 is revolutionary: both male and female are created in God's image, both receive the blessing, both are given dominion. The equality of dignity is established before the differentiation of roles in Genesis 2. Scarlet Thread: Christ, the perfect image of God, comes as male — but His bride, the Church, completes the picture. Ephesians 5:31-32 reveals that marriage itself is a type: 'This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church.'
