nikaō — to conquer, overcome, prevail. Each letter concludes with a promise "to the one who overcomes." The overcomer is the believer who perseveres in faith through trial, suffering, and temptation to the end. 1 John 5:4-5: "Everyone born of God overcomes the world — our faith." The power to overcome is supplied by Christ (John 16:33). GK: nikaō (νικάω); ho nikōn (ὁ νικῶν) — present active participle, ongoing action. HEB: natsaḥ (נָצַח). SCIF: Operative who holds position until mission completion — victory defined not as absence of casualties but refusal to surrender or defect.
