The Greek 'proorizō' means to determine beforehand, to set the boundaries in advance. The destination is specified: 'conformed to the image of his Son.' Predestination is not fatalism but purposeful divine planning — God is not reacting to human choices but executing an eternal plan. The comfort is in the certainty: if God predestined the end, he will accomplish it. The scarlet thread: Christ is the 'image of the invisible God' (Col 1:15); we are predestined to be conformed to that image. The goal of salvation is not just forgiveness but transformation — becoming like Jesus, the 'firstborn among many brothers.'
