Intelligence Brief
The Greek 'oikei' means to dwell, inhabit, make one's home — the Spirit is not a guest but a permanent resident. This indwelling is the defining mark of belonging to Christ (v. 9b). The OT background is the Shekinah glory dwelling in the tabernacle and temple — God's localized presence among his people. Now that presence is internalized: each believer is a temple. The scarlet thread: Jesus promised 'another Helper' who would be 'with you forever' and 'in you' (John 14:16-17). Pentecost was the fulfillment — the Spirit who raised Jesus now dwells in his people, guaranteeing their resurrection (v. 11).
