In Hebrew anthropology, the heart (lev) is not the seat of emotion but of will, intellect, and decision-making — the command center of the person. To write on the tablet of the heart means to encode instructions so deeply they become reflexive, not merely remembered. This echoes the stone tablets of Sinai but relocates the covenant from external monument to internal architecture. Jeremiah 31:33 promises a new covenant where God Himself writes His law on hearts — fulfilled in the Spirit's indwelling work that transforms believers from the inside out (2 Corinthians 3:3). Christ does not merely give commands; He rewrites the operating system.
