Intelligence Brief
Standing candelabras that hold and project light into a space. Jesus explains in verse 20 that the seven lampstands represent the seven churches. The image is drawn from the golden Menorah in the Tabernacle and Temple — the lampstand whose light was to be kept burning continuously (Exodus 25:31-40; Leviticus 24:2). The church's calling is to hold and project the light of Christ into its surrounding darkness. A lampstand that stops shining has abandoned its entire purpose. In Zechariah 4:2-6 the menorah is identified explicitly with the Spirit of God. SCIF: Forward signal stations — deployed outposts with active broadcast and illumination capability in their local theater. Each independently operational. Collectively forming a network. A station that goes dark has failed its primary mission.
