Hebrews 4:12: 'The word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit.' John sees this made visible — the sword proceeds from the mouth, not the hand. The source is speech. The church at Pergamum will be told Christ will 'war against them with the sword of my mouth.' The weapon in play throughout Revelation is the word. Every judgment is the word being executed.
