Fourteen chapters built on the most painful field assignment any prophet received: marry a prostitute and love her anyway. HOSEA takes GOMER as his wife, she's unfaithful, and God says go buy her back. The marriage is the message — Israel is the faithless bride, and God is the betrayed husband who won't stop pursuing. The children's names are living intelligence: Jezreel (God scatters), Lo-Ruhamah (no mercy), Lo-Ammi (not my people). Then God reverses every name. Hosea's life is a walking, bleeding parable of covenant love. This is what grace looks like before it gets sanitized.

Hosea 11:1 — 'Out of Egypt I called my son.' Matthew 2:15 applies this directly to the infant Jesus returning from Egypt. Israel the son failed the mission. Jesus the Son completed it. The exodus Hosea referenced was always pointing to a greater extraction.
