Thirteen chapters — PAUL's most personal and emotionally raw letter. The relationship with Corinth has deteriorated: false apostles have infiltrated, Paul's authority is under attack, and his credibility is being measured by worldly metrics. Paul responds not with credentials but with a catalogue of suffering: beatings, shipwrecks, sleepless nights, a thorn in the flesh God won't remove. His defense of apostleship is a defense of weakness: 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Chapters 8-9 contain the most sophisticated fundraising theology ever written. This letter bleeds on every page.

2 Corinthians 5:21 — 'For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.' The great exchange: full contamination transferred to a clean operative, clean status transferred to the contaminated. This is the legal mechanism that makes the entire operation work. The sinless asset absorbed the full charge.
