BOOK DOSSIER: GALATIANS
Testament: NT | Chapters: 6 | Status: 0% DECLASSIFIED
Six chapters of PAUL at maximum intensity — the angriest letter in the New Testament, written to churches being seduced back into legalism. JUDAIZERS have infiltrated Galatia, teaching that Gentile converts must be circumcised and keep the Mosaic Law to be saved. Paul's response: 'If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.' No diplomatic preamble, no softening. He recounts his confrontation with PETER at Antioch — even apostles get corrected when the gospel is at stake. The theological core: justification by faith alone, apart from works of the law. Luther called Galatians his 'Katie von Bora' — the epistle he was married to.
Scarlet Thread
Galatians 3:13 — 'Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us — for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree."' The cross is not a system failure — it's a legal transaction. Χριστός absorbed Deuteronomy's curse so the Abrahamic blessing could clear to the nations. The tree that carried the curse is the tree that carried the remedy.
